Student Visa Checklists & Requirements

General Documents Required

  • Complete Study Permit application (IMM 1294) through IRCC portal.
  • Valid passport (must cover full study duration).
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs (35mm x 45mm).
  • Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
  • Tuition fee payment receipt (recommended).
  • Proof of funds: Minimum CAD 20,635 (outside Quebec) + tuition + travel.
  • Bank statements (last 6 months) & bank solvency certificate.
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) explaining education plan and ties to home country.
  • NID/Birth certificate (English version or notarized translation).
  • Upfront Medical Exam (IME) at approved panel physician.
  • Police clearance certificate (PCC).

Academic Documents

  • SSC & HSC certificates and transcripts.
  • Bachelor/Masters certificates & transcripts (if applicable).
  • IELTS/TOEFL/Duolingo score (if applicable depending on program).
  • Any training certificates, work experience letters (optional but helpful).

Financial Sponsor Documents

  • Sponsor’s bank statements (last 6 months) & solvency certificate.
  • Income proof: salary certificate/business documents.
  • Tax return/TIN certificate.
  • Affidavit of financial support.
  • Birth certificate/NID showing relationship with sponsor.

SDS (Student Direct Stream) Requirements

  • IELTS 6.0 in each band (Mandatory for SDS).
  • Full 1-year tuition fee paid.
  • GIC worth CAD 20,635.
  • Upfront medical exam.

Family/Spouse Accompanying (Optional)

  • Marriage certificate (translated if needed).
  • Spouse passport, photos, NID.
  • Proof of relationship (photos, chat history, social proof).
  • Additional financial proof for spouse support.

Student Visa Processing Steps (2025)

  • Step 1: Get LOA from a Canadian DLI.
  • Step 2: Pay tuition fee (full for SDS, partial for non-SDS).
  • Step 3: Arrange GIC (SDS) or financial documents (non-SDS).
  • Step 4: Do upfront Medical (IME).
  • Step 5: Create IRCC account and complete Study Permit form.
  • Step 6: Upload documents and pay fees (CAD 150 + CAD 85 biometrics).
  • Step 7: Give biometrics at VFS Global Dhaka.
  • Step 8: Wait for result (SDS: 4–6 weeks; Non-SDS: 8–12 weeks).
