Student Visa Checklist & Requirements

General Documents Required

  • Completed and signed student visa application form.
  • Valid passport issued within last 10 years, with at least 3 months validity beyond planned stay, and minimum 2 blank pages.
  • One recent passport-sized photograph (white background, taken within 6 months).
  • Letter of acceptance or admission from a Swedish university or recognized education institution.
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs (usually around SEK 8,370 per month).
  • Proof of accommodation in Sweden (rental agreement, dormitory confirmation, or similar).
  • Proof of health insurance coverage for the entire duration of stay.
  • Documentation proving intent to leave Sweden upon visa expiry (family ties, job, or property in home country).
  • NID/Birth certificate (translated and notarized if not in English or Swedish).
  • All non-English/Swedish documents translated by authorized translators and notarized.

Academic Documents

  • Certified copies of academic transcripts and certificates from previous education.
  • Proof of language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent) if required by the institution.
  • Official leave certificate from last attended institution, if applicable.
  • Explanation of any gaps in education or employment history.

Professional Documents

Submit documents based on your occupation to show financial and social ties to Bangladesh:

  • Business Person: Trade license, TIN, tax returns (last 3 years), ownership proof, bank statements, business letterhead.
  • Employee: NOC from employer, salary slips (6 months), job contract/ID card, leave approval letter.
  • Student: Student ID, enrollment certificate, official leave letter.
  • Retired Person: Retirement documents, pension statements.
  • Dependent (Housewife/Children/Parents): Sponsor’s NOC, financial documents, relationship proof.
  • Government Service: NOC and service records.
  • Professionals (Doctors/Lawyers/Artists/Freelancers): Relevant certificates, memberships, portfolio.
  • Maid/Driver: Employer’s NOC, financial documents, employment contract.

Sponsored Visits

  • Friends/Family in Sweden: Invitation letter, host’s passport/residence permit, proof of address (utility bill), host’s financial documents if sponsoring.
  • Business/Organization: Official invitation, Swedish company registration, financial records, purpose-of-visit letter.

Other/Special Documents

  • Membership certificates or association documents (if applicable).
  • Previous visa or refusal documents.
  • Notarized affidavit for any name or document mismatches.
  • If passport lost: police report (GD) with English translation.
  • Alternative contact numbers for verification.

Visa Processing Policies & Updates (as of 2025)

  • Applications submitted via VFS Global Sweden Visa Application Centre, Dhaka (Banani).
  • Biometrics mandatory for student visas unless exempted.
  • Typical processing time: 15–45 days depending on season and completeness.
  • Visa fee: €90 for adults, €45 for children aged 6–11 years.
  • Extended Bangladeshi passports are not accepted for visa filing after 2025 rule changes.
  • Translation and notary fees borne by the applicant.
  • Additional documents or interviews may be requested.
